Somebody built at a scale and a precision the textbooks cannot pay for. This newspaper has paid for boreholes, laser scans and flume rates, and prints what came back — including the stairs.
Start at the top. This is the order the desk would hand these to someone who has never read the paper — not the order they ran.
Malanga, Biondi and Mei reported shafts and spiral stairs beneath the pyramid and were told satellite radar cannot see that deep. This newspaper paid for a borehole and lowered a camera. The stairs are cut, and they turn.
Two processing houses, working blind of each other, reprocessed four 1974 gas-industry seismic lines across Archuleta Mesa. Both image three voids within six kilometres of the east face. The largest is 240 metres across and 70 high.
