Our own commission. One mason, period tools of his own choosing, 411 hours logged and filmed across 63 working days. The replica and an original block were scanned by the same metrologist with the same instrument on the same day; her calibration certificate is filed with the scans. The mason chose the tools and rejected two we offered as anachronistic.

Editor's note

The replica is flatter than the original. The mason asked us to print that this proves a method is available and not that it is the method used.
