Chain of custody
Given to this newspaper in May 2026 by a member of the Bennewitz family, who supplied it without conditions and asked only that we say he was an engineer and not a crank. The United States Air Force has acknowledged running a disinformation effort against him in 1980. We therefore hold, and are publishing, material that at least one party says it forged. Two of our sources disagree over whether these particular pages are the 1980 forgeries or a later imitation, and we cannot settle it.

Editor's note
We cite this as a forgery, every time, in the first sentence of any story using it. The ventilation schedule on p.61 is the only page an engineer we hired could not dismiss, and she is emphatic that a well-sized schedule proves an engineer wrote it and nothing about whether the room exists.
