The parties' names and the marital address. The purchaser is dead and his estate is quoted with the executor's permission; the petitioner has not been approached and this newspaper does not intend to.

Chain of custody

Located by a reader in Lisbon, Delfina Ferreira, who is named with her consent and who found it in three evenings using a genealogy subscription she pays for to trace her own grandmother. She sent this newspaper a county, a docket number and a schedule reference. We ordered the record from the clerk of court for $22, photographed Schedule B, and telephoned the estate of the purchaser, whose executor supplied the March 1974 receipt. She declined a fee twice and asked for a donation to a records-digitisation fund instead.

Editor's note

Filed as the answer to the longest-standing gap in the vault, and as the best argument this newspaper has for its own habit. The hole was closed by a reader who got tired of seeing it reported. A newspaper willing to look worse in the short term prints holes; holes printed often enough stop being embarrassments and become invitations.
